INDIGENOUS DESIGN: AUSTRALIAN DESIGN CENTRE

DHUWI

A sensory body of textile, ceramic and photographic works that honour relationships and sing up the spirit and inner energies embedded within our cultural objects. An exploration of value, power and meaning, developed as part of a process connecting to cultural materials, philosophies and processes on and away from country. Created in collaboration and under the mentorship of Maker Tom Barker (Murawarri / Yorta Yorta), Knowledge Holder Ted Fields Jnr (Yuwaalaraay), Photographer Chris Chen, Luke Gordon (Yuwaalaraay / Ngemba) and Composer Nardi Simpson (Yuwaalaraay).

An exhibition of work recipients of the Arts NSW Indigenous Design Mentorship 2016 at the Australian Design Centre,
with Lucy’s work exploring and documenting intergenerational knowledge transfer.

A project created in development with Australian Design Centre and community / industry mentors.
