Earth Wirri - New Volumes

Water carriers, coolamon + old baked clay forms born of Yuwaalaraay inspire the design of Earth Wirri (terracotta dish).

Measuring 675mm X 175mm X 115mm and etched with the stories of place drawn from the floodplains + hand crafted by artisans in Italy, this collaborative piece embodies country + tradition and the role of First Nations design not only as objects of beauty and function but as conduits to knowledge / transfer / relationships - with a story that continues with each set of hands that it passes through.

Featuring as part of New Volumes Collection 02.

Artistic Direction by Thomas Coward, styling by Nat Turnbull and Photography by Sean Fenessey.
